Tips Following Your Liposuction Procedure

Consult your Doctor for post-op instructions

Seeing your doctor and listening to their orders is the most important tip to follow following surgery. In most cases, your doctor will have you come back in the day after your procedure to ensure that you heal properly while avoiding infection. It is important to ask your doctor any questions that you may have as well.

Get your Rest!

Your doctor will discuss how much downtime you need based on your procedure, in most cases you will need 2-3 days off before you can return to work and all your other daily activities.

Wear Your Compression Garment!

During your pre-operative visit you should have a garment fitted to the areas that are getting treated. Following surgery, your doctor will wrap you up with gauze and bandages to help keep pressure on the areas and to stop the bleeding. At your post-operative visit the day after surgery, you will receive your compression garment. The compression garment will help with skin retraction and keeping smooth contours. You will need to wear your garment for at least 2 weeks at all times.

Take Your Meds

Your doctor will prescribe antibiotics to prevent the risk of infection. You must make sure that you go through with the whole course of the antibiotics prescribed. To manage your pain and swelling you will be prescribed pain killers that are to be taken as needed.
